It is when customers re-registered for the service and forget their password. The issue can easily be resolved by resetting the password or PIN .When this occurs you can also contact the call center 6836.
Customers can check their balances by dialing to *841#, enter PIN and choosing Balance Query from the menu. Or on the app can check the balance by clicking on the balance shadow.

Ebirr is providing the services in six languages. Amharic , Afaan Oromo, Afaraf, English, Somali and Tigrigna. Customers can choose any of the mentioned languages and switch according to their preferences. To change language customers can dial to *841#, enter PIN, choose Number 7 from the menu and find change language. Then customers can change the language.

Customers can dial to call center and request for the PIN/Password reset by call center customer care service staff of ebirr. After doing so the user will receive a reset password.

Non-registered customers can visit the agent offices or bank branches to cash-out the sent money. This service is also known as local remittance during this service the non-registered customer will get an SMS message allowing him to receive the money from an agent in that area as stated above.

Customers can visit their branch bank and link their bank account to their wallet account.

Customers can put the Invoice ID if the receipt is issued by the service or good provider or biller. If not, they can simply enter any number to the field.

Customers can pay by dialing to *841#, enter PIN and choose the payments menu. In the payment menu we can find merchant payment and Bill payment. They choose according to the service provider.
As mobile money is a similar concept to a bank account, funds held in a mobile money account are protected by local financial regulations. Mobile money providers and partners like e-Birr are required to check the identity of their users - making it much harder for fraudsters and criminals to use these services illegally.

All E-Birr Mobile Money transactions must be confirmed using a 4-digit secret code called a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which only the customer will know. Therefore, even if one loses his PIN (Agent or customer), no one can access the money. Agents & customers need to make sure that they keep their PIN and secret word and no one else knows it; including CBO staffs.

Currently customers of ebirr can use the wallet account to pay all Ethio-telecom post-paid services, Buy air tickets from Ethiopian Airlines, pay all taxes to the ministry of revenue, pay DSTV bills, pay traffic ticket bills as well as water and electric bills.

Interoperability of the service will enable us to link up the different parts of the ebirr society mashed up into one aggregators function as the glue that helps entities like businesses, governments and donors easily connect with a variety of payment platforms like mobile money services or banks and the customers who pay via those services. The aggregator for interoperability (eth-switch) is working on the interoperability of wallet services.

E-Birr is no transaction fee services where customer does not pay any amount for the services we are providing.

No, its interest free and the interests are only available on bank accounts. You can deposit the amount you want for payments on your E-Birr wallet and keep the other amount at the Bank we are working with to benefit from the interest. The rate of interest for savings account deposits is 7% per annum currently at cooperative Bank.

No, just register for the service and start the experience. In case, you go to the bank to link your wallet with the Bank account, the Bank may ask you to open a saving account and the minimum initial deposit  is ETB 25.

Mobile money stores funds in a secure electronic account linked to a mobile phone number. In some cases the wallet number will be the same as the phone number, but not always – they can be different. Before sending funds to a mobile money wallet, please check with your recipient correct mobile number in case of E-Birr wallet service.
